I found coaching to be one of my greatest experiences as a mom. I learned early on that my biggest hurdles would not be the kiddos I was coaching, but that it would be their parents. It was difficult to watch a child put out their best effort and work hard only to have it not be "good enough" for mom or dad. It is disheartening to watch a child be demoralized by an adult that loves them. I did find most parents were extremely grateful to have someone volunteer to coach their children. Most showed respect and gratitude for the time and energy spent with their child...coaching youth sports is not for the faint of, but it does garner some great rewards! Thanks for the insight.
